On the same stretch of Pinar del Rio’s north coast as Cayo Jutia and 50km northeast of Vinales, you'll find the abandoned military outpost of Palma Rubia which is the ferry departure point for Cayo Levisa, more developed for tourism than Cayo Jutia but still relatively virgin. This 3km-wide, densely wooded islet offers some of the finest white sands and clearest waters in Pinar del Rio, and unless you take advantage of its diving center, there's blissfully little to do [...]
After leaving the Palma Rubia jetty within just 30 minutes the boat moors on a shaky wooden jetty at Cayo Levisa, a two-minute walk from the only lodging on the island, Villa Cayo Levisa a wooden hotel property sprawled sloppily along the gleaming white beach. Behind the beach, thick woodland reaches across the island to the opposite shore, forming a natural divider that encourages a sense of escape and privacy. The ferry service is twice daily at 10am and 6pm.
